Created and hosted by singer songwriter Beth Portman, Birdie on a Branch is an intimate monthly music night (2nd Thursday) that celebrates the human voice and features local singer songwriters and vocalists both emerging and experienced. Come for dinner, a latte, glass of wine or a sweet treat and check out the many talented performers hopping on the branch to share their songs. Evening typically includes two sets: 20 minute opener and 40 minute feature. Show your appreciation by leaving a donation in our painted bird houses.

Featured Birdie: Danielle Dayton
Danielle Dayton has a natural flair for Blues and Soul. Based in Edmonton, AB her deeply dark vocals and rhythmic guitar leave listeners no choice but to groove along. Like her idols, Janis Joplin and Brandi Carlile. Danielle’s sound is at once energetic and thoughtful. Her focus on storytelling in her lyrics creates an anchor amidst the dynamic backdrop of her skillful guitar playing. She is known for bringing a presence to the stage in her live performances, whether she plays a solo show or with a full band. Opening Birdie: Samantha Wiltzen
A Triple Threat! Singer, actor, and dancer, 14 year old Samantha Wiltzen from Sherwood Park has been performing for 10 years. She currently takes vocal lessons at Visionary College of Performing Arts, an welcomes all the wonderful opportunities she receives to perform in and around Edmonton, from competitions to community events, as well as busking and playing her ukulele at the Old Strathcona Farmers' Market, and at the St. Albert Farmers' Market.
Samantha loves all types of music from past to present. Some of her favorite artists are Stevie Wonder, Ozzy Osbourne, Journey, Jo Dee Messina, Carrie Underwood, 21 Pilots, and many others. Samantha has recently started learning to play guitar. She has also started to write and play her own original music as well.
Samantha plans to continue working on becoming a well rounded entertainer as she grows.
